The film won the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two additional awards (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI award). She also appeared on The Francis Ford Coppola film Youth Without Youth. In 2008, she played Yasim Anwar in BBC series The Last Enemy. Marinca has appeared in the Romanian drama Boogie and Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven. She later had a prominent performance in the 2014 film Fury in which she portrayed a German woman known as Irma aunt of Emma.
