Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenHe began his studies at the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. In addition to his role in the drama series aired globally as The Killing, he subsequently was a part of two other critically popular Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He also had a leading role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In American television show House of Cards, his role was that of the president of Russia. In 2018, he received an International Emmy Award for his part as the Russian president in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This was shown in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in the year 2019. In addition to his home country of Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English and has learned diverse accents. Mikkelsen claimed that he and his brother learned English first by listening Monty Python recordings and watching comedy sketches.
